New Dryer Exhaust Installation

This was a fun job that I took on In San Mateo, CA. The customer has an HVAC company install a dryer exhaust system for them and it did not turn out the way it should have in fact the whole setup was incorrect and a hazard. I came up with a simple solution for the customer, which was to re-route the dryer exhaust through the side of the house. The first step was to remove the existing failing dryer exhaust. Once completed I decided to go through the tile floor, this allowed me to reduce the number of turns in the line. Once the floor penetration was completed, I created and exterior penetration to exit the exhaust. You can see form the picture that the penetrations are very clean, that's because we use the correct tools in this case a diamond based core bit. At this point I installed the duct work 8' of 26 GA 4" diameter hard pipe and strapped it to the floor joists to ensure that it would not shift. I finished the run off with a vent hood from a company called InOvate to ensure a sleek look and that no critters would enter the exhaust. I also finished the inside with fire rated caulking on the floor and silicone on the exterior to prevent leaks. The customer now has an efficient, safe and code compliant exhaust system.
